RUGBY LEAGUE
After exhaustive searches by our archivists these rare photographs were
found at the bottom of Rob Wilkinson's sock drawer.
For now they are the only pictures of The

Rugby League team in action we have.
Central Park must have been booked this day as the game was played at Wigan Old Boys Rugby Union Club which shows that long before Union became openly professional there was little animosity between the two codes in this part of England.
| The scrum is not a notable part of modern Rugby League but there was a time when
hookers hooked, props had cauliflower ears, second-rowers had radar in
their hands and the whole unit pushed as one. This was not the case with our scrum.
|
| Any Union fans watching the game would be cringing at this sight......
or they could have thought it was a deliberate collapse! |
| .......and this picture also shows a distinct lack of technique by the team in black, US, although it does show we have a nice, straight defensive line. | |
| The ref seems to have spotted some trouble here. |
